Description of the Equilibrium project, 2015
I find myself in this situation to represent the emptiness, then to name it, to help myself understand what is happening with me. The colors I fill in the black canvas with seem to be possessed by someone foreign and not by me. But somehow I cannot stop. I am giving birth to something that I did not know until now: restlessness. Europe shattered entirely becomes easily a composition on my canvases by joining shapes: geometric, smoke, leaves. The smoke is actually indicating the inconceivable condition that I face. The leaves are the actual point of reference for the zone I am in, of what I know for sure I am: far away. The fact that at this important moment for the places and people I love, I am in America makes me navigate from smoke to leaves, from color-light to darkness with a flexibility and a coherence that seem incredible. Is the only justification I find to build up this puzzle with such different pieces, unstable related to composition if one without the other. If in the beginning I felt like a stranger here, the antithesis between what I heard back home and what I saw here, in the palm trees paradise, created this bridge of balance between the two parallel feelings. And this is how a new series was born that brings equilibrium in a shattering moment. A series that is finding its own balance through joining together small pieces- each one of them having its own contribution. I am gathering all my forces to be able to describe this complex that was born through the gathering of premeditated accidents waiting to happen, because this series of works it the mirror of the consequences which these last movements started in Paris had over my painting.
